The 2023 Gangnam Festival is set to take place from October 5 to 9, 2023, in the heart of Seoul’s K-pop hub, Gangnam. This festival has garnered global attention, largely thanks to singer PSY’s iconic ‘Gangnam Style.’
The festivities kick off with the ‘Opening Festival,’ a multi-dimensional musical performance that sets the stage for a week of exciting events. The festival boasts a diverse lineup of programs, including the ‘2024 S/S Gangnam Fashion Festa’ hosted at the COEX Starfield Library, a renowned Gangnam tourist hotspot. There’s also the ‘Maru Park Green Concert,’ featuring a medley of musical genres, from ballads and rock to trot. Food enthusiasts and culture lovers will find their niche in the ‘Gourmet Trip and K-Culture Stage,’ where they can savor a wide array of culinary delights while enjoying live performances. For those with a sporting spirit, the ‘International Peace Marathon’ offers a scenic run along the picturesque Han River.
This year marks the 12th anniversary of the Gangnam Festival, known for its spectacular K-pop concerts held on a specially designed stage on Yeongdong-daero. With an even more impressive artist lineup, this year’s concert promises to be a treat for K-pop fans both in Korea and around the world.
On October 8, the highlight of the festival will be the live-streamed K-pop concert featuring some of Korea’s top musicians, including aespa, ATEEZ, BOYNEXTDOOR, fromis_9, NCT DREAM, STAYC, and ZICO. The concert can be enjoyed by a global audience through the ‘KBS World’ YouTube channel.
Mayor Cho Sung Myung of Gangnam-gu expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s festival, emphasizing that it aims to provide visitors with a rich cultural experience beyond K-pop performances, positioning itself as a prominent cultural festival representing the Korean Wave in Seoul. The 2023 Gangnam Festival promises to be an exciting celebration of K-pop and Korean culture in the vibrant heart of Gangnam.
