The November 2024 edition of Miami Fashion Week® (MIAFW) transformed Miami into a pulsating hub of high fashion and cultural celebration. With a lineup that included Philipp Plein, Lafayette 148 NY, Giannina Azar, Yas González, Shantall Lacayo, Claro Couture, Sigal, and Yenny Bastida, the event redefined Miami’s role as a dynamic intersection of global trends and local vibrance. Curated by Sergio Salerni, whose expertise spans from Milan to Miami, this year’s showcase reinforced the city’s identity as a fashion capital, while setting ambitious plans for 2025.
The week opened with an inaugural press conference featuring Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert III at the Gary Nader Art Centre. Industry voices such as Elliot Carlyle welcomed MIAFW with enthusiasm, emphasizing its significance to the city’s cultural and economic fabric. The festivities began with German designer Philipp Plein’s cutting-edge urban aesthetic displayed at the exclusive “Designers’ Dinner” at Queen Miami Beach, attracting influencers like Osmariel Villalobos and Hofit Golan.
Lafayette 148 NY brought refinement to the iconic rooftop of Mr. C Miami Coconut Grove, while Giannina Azar turned the Gary Nader Art Centre into a luminous haven of eveningwear modeled by pageant stars including Marianela Ancheta, Miss Universe Cuba 2024. Each designer transformed their venues into living canvases of creativity, seamlessly blending Miami’s scenic allure with fashion’s timeless elegance.
Highlights of the week included the “Influencers Brunch” at Sofia Design District, where Shantall Lacayo unveiled her latest creations amidst a curated gathering of digital tastemakers. Spanish designer Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada added literary flair with a book presentation that offered an intimate glimpse into her celebrated journey. Retail giants such as Sigal and Lafayette 148 hosted exclusive events, ensuring fans could engage directly with the designs.
Executive Director Lourdes Fernandez-Velasco praised this year’s milestone, underscoring MIAFW’s pivotal role in amplifying Miami’s influence in the global fashion narrative. Her enthusiasm was echoed by State Representative Fabián Basabe, who highlighted the event’s contributions beyond the runway—creating jobs, enhancing tourism, and inspiring a new generation of fashion entrepreneurs.
The intellectual backbone of MIAFW was evident at the Miami Fashion Week Summit, where discussions on sustainable fashion and influencer marketing were led by thought leaders like Rodner Figueroa and Taryn Hipwell. Backed by the Miami Fashion Institute, the summit emphasized fashion’s intersection with technology, sustainability, and cultural evolution, shaping a forward-looking agenda for the industry.
As the curtains close on MIAFW 2024, the anticipation builds for October 2025, with promises of even bolder innovations. With support from Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami Beach, and a roster of dedicated sponsors, MIAFW remains an emblem of Miami’s ability to unite global artistry and local heritage into an unforgettable fashion narrative.
