16th All Japan Sake Fair: A Celebration of Tradition and Excellence
The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association is set to host the 16th All Japan Sake Fair at Ikebukuro Sunshine City, Tokyo, on July 5 and 6, 2024. This prestigious event, known as the world’s largest Sake fair, will feature over 400 Sake brewers from various regions of Japan, offering attendees the unique opportunity to sample more than 1,000 brands of Sake. Visitors will have the chance to engage directly with the brewers, learning about the distinctive production methods and regional characteristics that define Japanese Sake.
The fair will be organized into 45 regional booths, each highlighting the unique traits and trends of Sake from different parts of Japan. Attendees can look forward to a variety of tasting services, including Sake served at different temperatures to explore how temperature influences flavor. Sake makers will also lead discussions on their craft, providing insights into the intricate techniques of Sake brewing.
In conjunction with the fair, the open tasting event will showcase approximately 390 award-winning Daiginjo Sakes from the Annual Japan Sake Awards 2024. This competition, now in its 112th year, is conducted by the National Research Institute of Brewing and the Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association. Experts will have judged Ginjo Sakes produced from July 2023 to March 2024 through blind tastings, evaluating fragrance, flavor, and overall quality.
This year, tickets for the event are available to Japanese Sake enthusiasts and experts worldwide, promising a high turnout of visitors eager to experience the best in Japanese Sake. As this year’s event is set to be memorable, preparations are already underway for the 2025 Japan Sake Fair, scheduled for June next year.
