U-Ukraine Tech Summit Showcases Resilience and Innovation, hosted on November 18, 2024 at the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw

The EU-Ukraine Tech Summit, hosted on November 18 at the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw, served as a powerful testament to the resilience and innovation of Ukrainian startups. Organized by London PR Lab, the summit brought together Ukrainian entrepreneurs, European investors, and global tech leaders, spotlighting the dynamic progress of Ukraine’s tech sector even amidst the ongoing challenges of war. The event demonstrated a profound commitment to fostering connections between Ukrainian startups and the broader European tech ecosystem, emphasizing strategic growth, innovation, and collaboration.

A key highlight of the summit was the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund, a pivotal initiative that has delivered over $5 million in equity-free funding to 58 Ukrainian startups since its inception in March 2022. As outlined by Michal Kramarz, Head of Google for Startups CEE, and Tymon Kokozska, Global Go-to-Market Manager, the fund is part of Google’s larger $45 million humanitarian commitment to Ukraine. Such initiatives are crucial in supporting the growth and sustainability of Ukrainian enterprises, particularly in a period marked by adversity and transformation.

The summit featured a wide range of discussions on critical topics such as governance, artificial intelligence implementation, and navigating the complexities of EU markets. Industry leaders and experts offered actionable insights for Ukrainian startups on securing funding, forming strategic partnerships, and leveraging innovation-driven growth to thrive in the European market. Natalia Mykolska, Executive Director of Diia.City United, underscored the significance of initiatives like the EU-Ukraine Tech Summit, highlighting the importance of attracting foreign capital, fostering global collaborations, and enabling startups to integrate seamlessly into international tech ecosystems.

A standout feature of the summit was the speed-dating and startup pitching sessions, where Ukrainian entrepreneurs presented their ideas to European investors. This format fostered meaningful connections and underscored the readiness of Ukrainian startups to compete on a global scale. LifesaverSIM, a game-based simulator for training lifesaving skills and tactical medicine, emerged as the winner of the pitching competition, with SYLA and Pricer24 as runners-up. LifesaverSIM, founded by Yuriy Dyachyshyn, reflects the innovative spirit of Ukrainian startups, offering practical solutions tailored to the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Supported by a coalition of partners, including Diia.City United, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, and the IT Ukraine Association, the event highlighted the critical role of international dialogue in shaping a robust and inclusive tech ecosystem. Andrii Lytvyn of the IT Ukraine Association emphasized the necessity of such platforms in promoting Ukrainian innovation, attracting global partnerships, and reinforcing Ukraine’s position as a vital contributor to the international tech landscape.

Concluding the event, Vladyslav Bazikalov, CEO & Founder of London PR Lab, reflected on the summit’s achievements, stressing the importance of collaboration between Ukrainian and European tech communities. The EU-Ukraine Tech Summit not only provided a platform for startups to showcase their innovations but also set the stage for long-term partnerships, paving the way for a tech-driven future that bridges national and regional boundaries.
