The third-quarter earnings season enters its most consequential period on October 13, when major American banks begin reporting. By the end of October, investors should have a clearer picture of corporate profitability, consumer demand, semiconductor investment and the returns being generated by artificial intelligence spending.

The financial sector opens the reporting cycle. JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Wells Fargo offer early evidence on lending, deposits, trading and credit quality, followed by Bank of America and Morgan Stanley. Investors will watch whether financing conditions are supporting profitability or beginning to expose weaker borrowers.
ASML and TSMC make October 14–15 especially important for semiconductor investors. ASML’s orders illuminate future fabrication investment, while TSMC’s guidance offers a view of demand for advanced chips and manufacturing capacity. Together with SK hynix later in the month, their reports provide a useful cross-section of the AI hardware supply chain.
The following week brings Netflix and Tesla, alongside enterprise technology and semiconductor companies. Netflix faces questions about advertising and profitability, while Tesla’s automotive margins, energy operations and outlook will attract scrutiny. Intel’s progress in foundry operations and manufacturing economics will also matter.
The final week may have the greatest impact on major stock indexes. Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta, Apple and Amazon are central to expectations for AI monetization and technology-sector earnings. Cloud revenue, capital expenditure plans, advertising growth, consumer-device demand and operating margins could be more influential than earnings-per-share surprises alone.
Nvidia is not included because its next earnings report is expected in November. October’s chipmakers and equipment suppliers will nevertheless provide important preliminary signals about demand ahead of that announcement. Dates marked with an asterisk are provisional and should be verified against company investor-relations calendars; reporting schedules can change.
